Strengthening Media and Communication Collaboration between the Academy of Journalism and Communication and the University of Sydney

The University of Sydney and the Academy of Journalism and Communication strengthened their collaboration in media and communication, opening opportunities for academic exchange, joint research, and international training programs—marking a new milestone in global education and research partnership.

On the morning of October 10, 2025, the Academy of Journalism and Communication (AJC) welcomed Associate Professor Jonathon Hutchinson, Head of the Department of Media and Communication at the University of Sydney, during his visit to foster collaboration between the two institutions.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Minh Son, Rector of the Academy, introduced the Academy’s strengths in training and its development orientation. He expressed his desire to expand cooperation with the University of Sydney in areas such as journalism and communication research and education, faculty and student exchange programs, and the development of joint training initiatives.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Jonathon Hutchinson emphasized that this visit builds upon the collaborative discussions held during the Academy’s visit to the University of Sydney in August 2025. He highlighted opportunities for academic exchange and joint research, and suggested that AJC lecturers could contribute to teaching in Sydney on topics such as global communication from Vietnam’s perspective, digital culture, and government policies on digital transformation.

As part of his visit, Assoc. Prof. Hutchinson also delivered a lecture titled “Algorithmic Visibility, Digital Reproduction, and Cultural Expression: Navigating Platform Power in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, offering new insights and perspectives to AJC lecturers, researchers, and students.

This visit marks an important milestone, paving the way for practical and meaningful cooperation between the Academy of Journalism and Communication and the University of Sydney in the fields of media, communication, research, and international education.
